The Sukhoi Su-57 (NATO reporting name: Felon) is a Russian fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter aircraft developed by Sukhoi. It is the product of the PAK FA (Perspektivny Aviatsionny Kompleks Frontovoy Aviatsii - Future Air Complex of Frontline Aviation) program.
General Characteristics: The Su-57's%20Design incorporates stealth technology, supercruise, supermaneuverability, and advanced avionics to overcome the capabilities of previous generation fighter aircraft. It is intended to succeed the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Stealth: Stealth is achieved through a combination of airframe shaping, radar-absorbent materials, and internal weapons bays. However, some sources debate the extent of its stealth capabilities compared to aircraft like the F-22 and F-35.
Performance: It's designed for Air%20Superiority and ground attack roles. The Su-57 is powered by two Saturn AL-41F1 afterburning turbofan engines in initial production models. Later versions are planned to use the Izdeliye 30 engine, which is expected to offer improved performance and fuel efficiency.
Armament: The Su-57 has internal bays for carrying air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles and bombs. It can also carry weapons on external hardpoints, though this compromises its stealth characteristics. A variety of Guided%20Missiles can be carried.
Avionics: Features advanced radar systems, including AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar, and electronic warfare capabilities. Avionics%20Systems are considered advanced.
Status: As of late 2023, a limited number of Su-57s are in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces. Production is ongoing, with plans for further deliveries in the coming years.
